It will do your heart good

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

  Application

The Montgomery County SPCA is always looking for self-motivated people willing to give some of their time to the animals at the shelter.

*****  We currently need volunteers for the following days, timeframes and jobs:

Sundays from  8 am to noon to wash dishes and litter pans

Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 am to 11 am to wash dishes and litter pans

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2 pm to 4 pm to walk dogs

Saturdays to clean and disinfect the Isolation/Quarantine room

Ongoing help is needed for the following jobs:

Landscapers: Not only is a clean environment required inside an animal shelter a pleasant and clean exterior can be the difference between someone stopping to see what is available for adoption or not stopping. Landscaping and lawn care experience helpful.

Pet Trainers:  If you have pet training experience a little training may go a long way.  The time alone, you spend with an animal can help them become a better pet. Taking a dog for a walk, leash trains them and provides socialization.

Dog walkers: The animal shelter would like to have our dogs exercised on a daily basis. We take each dog for a walk twice a day to get exercise and one on one time.

Public Relations/Media Assistants: Every event the MCSPCA has requires advertisement. With a very limited budget we are required to rely on public service announcements and other forms of advertisement. If you have public relations or a media background your assistance could make the difference for a successful event.

Vet Techs: If you are a Veterinarian Technician or have Vet Tech experience you can help us.

Kennel Maintenance: Assist current shelter staff with cleaning and caring for the animals at the shelter. Keeping the kennels clean and sanitary is a priority.

Building Maintenance: We at the SPCA are always trying to improve the appearance of the shelter. Maintenance projects are always on our list.
