Pet Connection returns to WTEN after a 5 year absence.  Starting July 13th, Pet Connection will return to the 5:30pm newscast.  It will air on Monday and Thursday during the 5:30pm news as it did in past years.

According to Steve Caporizzo, Pet Connection host and long-time champion of homeless animals, “We are so happy to have the Montgomery County SPCA back as part of the WTEN Pet Connection Team.  A pet will be featured on the newscast live in hopes to find them a home.  We will also be doing fundraisers for the shelters with Pet Connection and promoting adoption clinics and pet related news.  We have improved our website (www.wten.com) and have a tremendous amount of information there for animal lovers or those interested in adoption.”

" I am so VERY happy it is back", says Caporizzo.  "Of all the things that I do, helping the plight of the homeless animals for so many years is one of the most important.  We are going to make it bigger and better than it was in the past."

“During the 15 years Pet Connection was on WTEN, we found homes for thousands of dogs and cats....and raised over $280, 000 on behalf of the animals”.  Steve says "The best days at work are not only when the forecast is right, but when you find out a pet that you had on TV finds that forever home.  That is what Pet Connection is all about ! "

PET CONNECTION
The Montgomery County SPCA wants to thank everyone that  made our 1st Annual Run For the Animals a great success!
It was a beautiful day for a ride and the weather was purrrrfect!  Together you all raised $1000.00 for the shelter animals, and in the process we all had a wonderful time! There were raffles and a bike show with  a trophy to the winner.  And the Bad Pig Saloon owner rustled up some grilled burgers and hotdogs for the crowd!  Thanks to the owners of the Pig, Loopies in Tribes Hill, and  Knuckleheads in Fultonville for all their hard work and for helping us make this a great fundraiser! Hope to see all of you(and more friends) next year!!!

Here are pix of the annual Elk's Halloween Parade. The SPCA had a float themed "The Witches of Amsterwyk". Staff and volunteers dressed as witches and along with volunteers and people that have adopted from the SPCA, walked shelter and owned dogs, in costume.  We hope that next year we can get more people to join us either with their Montgomery County SPCA adopted dogs or one of our available shelter dogs. Lots of candy was thrown to children lining Guy Park Ave
Adult Daycare at the Wilkenson Center

We at the Montgomery county SPCA have had the privilege to be able to visit the people attending the Adult Daycare at the Wilkenson Center at St Mary's Hospital for the past year.  Once a month we bring over various dogs, cats and other small animals (like ferrets), so they can enjoy the company of an animal.  The pets we bring always seem to brighten their day a bit and the unconditional love these animals bring to them is an honor to be a part of. We want to thank the entire staff at the center for allowing us to be there, and for the lovingly made doggie biscuits the clients bake for the shelter animals monthly!  A special thanks to staff member, Jamie Chase, who not only adopted a wonderful companion named Anya, from the MCSPCA shelter, but for her dedication to the people she works with. We hope to continue our visits there for as long as possible!!

A big thank you to EMILY ZATT from Glenville,NY! For her 12th birthday  party, she asked her friends to bring donations for the Montgomery County SPCA animals instead of the usual birthday presents! Emily and her mom came by the shelter on Saturday, Dec.12th to bring the many donations of pet food, toys and cleaning supplies. Happy Birthday, Emily!
We had a fantastic turnout and raised over $2100 from this year's Annual Bowlathon thanks to all our wonderful supporters!!!

These proceeds will be used to help cover our general day to day expenses of running the shelter, such as the heating bill and the telephone bill.

The GRAND PRIZE WINNER for the most donation collected was MELISSA VANGUILDER of Gloversville, she won the iPod shuffle and docking/speaker station.

The winner of the 50/50 raffle was Jeanette Engle who generously donated her portion of the winnings back to the MCSPCA. THANK YOU MRS. ENGLE!!!

Chuck Poole won the chocolate basket raffle.

THANK YOU to everyone who came today to support us, to Imperial Lanes for hosting the event and to all those local businesses who posted our flyers and helped to spread the word. See you ALL NEXT YEAR!!
