Thank you for visiting our on-line home
The MC-SPCA is a caring shelter for unwanted, abused, neglected or abandoned animals. We strive to find loving and caring homes for all animals.

Animals are available for adoption or fostering. If you are interested in adopting please check out our Adopt a Pet page and fill out an application. If you are unable to adopt but would like to foster an animal please fill out a Foster Care Application.  If you don't find the pet you are looking for you may want to visit the Private Adoption page.

In addition to providing a safe shelter for animals, the MC-SPCA also participates in a low cost spay or neutering program. If you would like to help support the spay and neuter program please click here for more information.

My name is FERN... I'm a 5 year old sweet lovable lady who was surrendered by my owner. I would like to go to a home as the only cat. I need a quiet, loving home to help me adjust to all the changes in my life. I'm a spayed female who enjoys sunning herself in the window and just chillin on the bed.

Inez is an exotic beauty if there ever was one. She is very loving and is searching for the home of her dreams. Inez is  1 1/2 yrs old, very smart and will give you her paw every chance she gets. She is treat oriented which makes training much easier.  We believe she has some Dobie and perhaps Viszla as part of her heritage.
This puppy was brought to the Montgomery County SPCA, on Rte. 5S,Amsterdam, NY on Saturday, May 9th. She is a approximately 8 months old, and has a calcified, frozen right elbow from an untreated bicondyler fracture. Her right shoulder dislocates ,as her muscles are severely atrophied. She has bi-lateral corneal ulcers and was extremely emaciated.
Someone had apparently treated her by placing a spicasplint on her as shown in the photo above.  We have named her Emma-Hope, and we want to find the person(s) who had abandoned her in a small dog crate in an abandoned barn, on Cranes Hollow Rd.
If you have any information, please contact Debi Crandall, Shelter Manager at 518-842-8050 or 518-393-6705 at your earliest convienence.    Thank you for your cooperation,

EMMA-HOPE: A ONE MONTH UPDATE

A lot of you have been calling the SPCA, for updates on how Emma-Hope is….
Well as you can see, she is doing very well! Thanks to the loving care of her foster mommy, Board Vice-President, Chris Fura, Emma has gained 7+ lbs since the fateful day she was discovered abandoned in a barn.  The ulcers on her eyes, that, if they were left untreated,  could have left Emma blind or at least visually impaired, have been healing nicely. Emma’s next step is to have her right front leg amputated, so she will be pain free and off to the beginning of her new life as a puppy! Chris has really been the key element in Emma’s recuperation. Without her compassion, patience and nursing care, Emma’s fate could have been totally different.  Thank you Chris. And thank you to ALL the wonderful people that have sent in donations for Emma’s forthcoming operation.  More updates will follow.
